Frequently Asked Questions

To access Geoportal base maps and data, click on the access button Maps at the top left of the screen (to the right of the main menu).
The Geoportal allows you to consult the following layers of information :
-Allocated zones to aquaculture (surrounded by circles): these are areas housing active aquaculture farms, aquaculture farm projects not yet active and free parcels dedicated to aquaculture.
-Active aquaculture farms: these are operational aquaculture farms located along the national coastline on sea and on land.
-Aquaculture farm projects: these are licensed aquaculture farms or under authorization and farms being installed on sea.
-Free parcels: these are areas not yet assigned to aquaculture projects on sea. These parcels are defined by regional aquaculture development plans carried out by the National Aquaculture Development Agency.
-Landing infrastructures : these are ports, fishermen villages and developed landing points that can constitute attachment points for aquaculture farms on sea.
-Fisheries and Aquaculture Administrations : these are the main administrations concerned by aquaculture activity in Morocco, namely: the National Aquaculture Development Agency, the National Fisheries Research Institute and the Maritime Fisheries Delegations.
-Administrative division: this division represents the Regions, Provinces / Prefectures and municipalities of the Kingdom.
The proposed base maps are as follows:
-A satellite map.
-A "Plan" map.
To choose the base map on which the data will be displayed:
1. Click on the access button (maps) Maps at the top left of the screen (at the right of the main menu);
2. Click on «Base maps » ;
3. Activate the chosen base map
N.B: the Geoportal offers the possibility of a mixed display of the "Satellite" and "Plan" base maps. In this case, you can change the transparency by clicking on the image relative to the "Plan" base map.
In order to display the maps legend:
1. Click on the access button (maps) Maps at the top left of the screen (at the right of the main menu);
2. Scroll through the drop-down list of information layers to view the legend for each layer.
